Encounter India '08

Bringing Students Together

A MUWCI Students' Initiative

Download the application (PDF) (due April 30th, 2008)

The Mahindra United World College of India (MUWCI) is offering students from all over the world an opportunity to come together, work, learn, and experience India through one of the defining features of the College: The Community Interaction (CI) Program. This program encourages students to recognize that the relationship with our surrounding communities must be one of equity, in which we share our experiences, knowledge, and energy, with the populations on which the CI activities focus.

This unique experience will be offered between 8 June 2008 and 6 July 2008. During their stay here, students will have an opportunity to volunteer at various organizations with whom MUWCI has built a close relationship through the CI Program, locally and nationally and have an opportunity to travel within India and discover its culture, hospitality and diversity.

CI activities at MUWCI focus broadly on four areas:

  • Education
  • Intentional play with children
  • Interaction with the mentally handicapped
  • Development (health and infrastructural)

The aim of Encounter India '08 is to enable students to learn about India at some depth, expose them to the work done in CI activities, and ultimately deepen their understanding of UWC ideals.
